Kurosawa and the Censors

Between 1945 and 1952, during the American occupation of Japan, censorship agencies reviewed all films proposed for production. In this video essay, Danish film scholar Lars-Martin Sorensen sheds light on the challenges Kurosawa faced from these censors in making DRUNKEN ANGEL (1948).
