Working with François Truffaut: Nestor Almendros, Director of Photography
This rare interview with cinematographer Nestor Almendros, who worked on a number of Truffaut films from THE WILD CHILD (1969) and TWO ENGLISH GIRLS (1971) to THE LAST METRO (1980) and CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS (1983), was conducted in April 1986, in Paris. The interview was originally intended for Rainer Gansera’s documentary WORKING WITH FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT, but only a few minutes were actually used. For this edit, Truffaut expert Robert Fischer constructed the interview in full from the only surviving elements.
