Life As It Is: Miloš Forman on His Czech Films, Part 2

This is the second part of a two-part interview in which director Milos Forman talks about his early career in his native Czechoslovakia. In Part 2, he discusses in great detail how he managed the professional and non-professional actors during the shooting of A BLONDE IN LOVE (1965), the type of atmosphere that he sought for the film and his extremely important professional relationship with cinematographer Miroslav Ondrícek and assistant director Ivan Passer. The making of THE FIREMEN’S BALL (1967), his final Czech film before leaving for the United States, is also discussed at great length.
