Taking Off: Michael König on »Rio das Mortes«
In RIO DAS MORTES (1970), two feckless young friends, Michel (Michael König) and Günther (Günther Kaufmann), embark on a hare-brained scheme to look for lost treasure in Peru, against strong opposition from Michel’s fiancée (Hanna Schygulla). Michael König was 22 when he was hired him for this film, a rare outing into the comedy genre for director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. More than 50 years later, the actor remembers how he met Fassbinder through their work for the theatre and looks back at the shooting of RIO DAS MORTES.
