Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s MOTHER KÜSTERS GOES TO HEAVEN (1975) stars Brigitte Mira as a middle-aged housewife who is roused into revolutionary activity after her blue-collar husband runs amok at his workplace. In this interview, assistant director Renate Leiffer, who worked with Fassbinder in this capacity on many films, reminisces about the shooting of this film in Frankfurt and puts it in the context of Fassbinder’s other work for screen and stage.
