Elke Sommer: Looking Back
From Germany’s Frauleinwunder and pin-up girl of the late fifties to Hollywood star, Elke Sommer looks back on a remarkable film and stage career. Discovered by Vittorio De Sica, she made her first films in Italy before moving on to international productions with THE VICTORS (1963). She recalls working with Paul Newman and Edward G. Robinson in THE PRIZE (1963), Peter Sellers and director Blake Edwards in A SHOT IN THE DARK (1964), Glenn Ford and Rita Hayworth in THE MONEY TRAP (1965), and many others. German filmmaker Eckhart Schmidt talked to Elke Sommer in January 2004 at her home in Los Angeles.
