»FIRST LOVE was a very important film for me in as much as it started my career as an adult actor. But the experience of working with Maximilan [Schell] was for me not only the transition from child to adult as an acor, but it was an extraordinary training. He was a wonderful actor, and as an actor, he understood how to direct other actors. He understood all the susceptibilities, all the insecurities. So watching him work, not only with myself but with other actors, was for me a fantastic school, if you like. It was a marvelous apprenticeship and a great fortune« (John Moulder Brown).
