The Times of Natalie Wood: An Appreciation by Gavin Lambert
Gavin Lambert, born in 1924 in England, gained recognition as a film critic in London, where he also worked as editor for the monthly magazine Sight and Sound. In 1956, Lambert emigrated to Hollywood, where he became a succesfull screenwriter and novelist. In addition to his five novels, he published definitive biographies of Natalie Wood, Norma Shearer and Lindsay Anderson, among other film-world royalty. This interview was filmed at Gavin’s home in January 2004, 18 months before his passing in July 2005. »Lambert provides an excellent discussion about Natalie Wood, whom he knew personally. […] Wood responded to the title role of INSIDE DAISY CLOVER [1965, based on Lambert’s novel and screenplay] because the character reflected her own experiences in Hollywood in many ways« (Dennis Seuling, The Digital Bits).
